Sydney

Sydney is a vibrant multi-cultural city of over 5 million people, with much to see and do when not at the conference. Have a look at the Sydney tourism website for more information.

Please remember to check for visa requirements before travelling. For overseas visitors, your ATM card won't work in Australia so bring either your credit card or Australian currency.

Getting to the venue and its surrounding hotels can be done either by shuttle, taxi or train. The conference venue is 15km from the airport. You can catch the T8 train from the airport to Wynyard station. From there it is a 400m walk to the venue. Alternatively, continue to Circular Quay, depending on where your hotel is. A taxi will cost around $40-100, depending on traffic, time of day and the taxi operator. A shuttle booking can fix that price and will cost you anything form $22 to $85.

PLEASE BE AWARE - there are two Spring Streets in Sydney - one in Central Sydney (the correct one), and one in Bondi Junction (the wrong one).

October/November is one of the best times of the year to visit Sydney. Weather is pleasant, being early Summer, with average minimum and maximum temperatures of 14 - 22°C and average humidity around 58%. There is a reasonable chance of some rain or showers so do bring an umbrella or raincoat in case. daylight saving has kicked in with sunrise at 6am and sunset at 7:20pm. The UV intensity is very high at this time of the year (around 8), so remember your sunblock! Good news is the sea temperature will be a very pleasant 18°C for the weekend after the conference.
